In life, we are bombarded with many information. Some information are there for the sake of attention. They are the unnecessary advertisements. They confuses!
To make sense of the information flow, we should direct only relevant item to the correct channel. The rest will, and should be, moved to the garbage area for disposal.
This is the way our mind should perform. Removing rubbish, while keeping the important.
Learn to differentiate the wanted from the unwanted.
Learn to clear the mental flow instead of clog up the information passage.
Aim for clarity and not confusion.
Staying focus is one method to doing the proper thing. Practice concentration technique to enhance this focusing.
One of these concentration technique is our "touch" typing. It forces you to look at your material instead of the keyboard.
Another example is to stare at an item for a defined period of time without care for the noise that goes round.
Building this skill to rid your mind of irrelevance saves you unnecessay time lost.
You can imagine a warehouse full of disorganised goods. How to locate the desired item?
Our brain, the warehouse inside our skull, is an invaluable asset we posses that decide our future. Fill it with good stuff and your life will be equally good, later.
Confused? I hope not!

Reliability of Learning Material
In the matter of self-improvement, you are on your own, and is solely accountable for your own learning outcome.
This statement is heavy to the ear, but, it is true.
Learning is to get yourself better. Learning is picking up new information to be applied when the times come.
Information become a key issue in self-learning.
What if the information is biased?
What if the information is not reliable?
Information can be created from the framework of another person. This framework can be formed from the past experience and perceived view of that person. Is it appropriate?
When learning, you need to scout for the correctness of the information. How?
2) Trying out.
This is for practical, hands-on type of learning. Trying out directly proves the correctness of the information ( steps, or deductions).
3) Thinking about it and reasoning out the content.
This is a critical part of learning. Do not trust whatever is presented. Read with a questioning mind. This will ensure that all material are scrutinised before acceptance. Upon acceptance, the reversal will not be easy. Thus, think about the information carefully and whether they make sense. Some of the material may sound nice, but upon careful analysis, yields otherwise.
Learning takes time, and time is precious. Learning from an unreliable source, is therefore, unwanted.

Reading to Keep Relevant
Being able to read is a blessed skill. To be able to read means being to capture knowledge. With knowledge, a person will be better informed and therefore will be in a better position to make better judgement.
Reading is fun. We pick up many information simply by reading. It can be information from books, newsapaper, television, or magazine. It can also be from the internet, which has plenty of materials. HOwever, reading is not simpliy acceptance of information. Reading includes the thinking part of learning, whereby filtering of relevant materials comes in. This inforamtion therefore becomes knowledge.
Reading trains up the mind of a person. It triggers the thinking juice and keeps it active. Linkage of old information and newly acquired information will form more knowledge. Reading is therefore deemed as one of the simple way to self-improvement. It is a cheap activity since reading materials are aplenty, easily made available almost everywhere.
In conclusion, read for pleasure and read for the good of one's future, as it makes one relevant to society. :)
